Here's the semi-finished car. It's Thursday, our first race is Saturday! It's crunch time! The body's at the graphics shop getting decals put on. While that's going on we've got some last minute modifications to make to the chassis.
The inspection last Saturday got rained out, so we had it Sunday afternoon. We had a blast going and seeing other people's set-ups. Most of the people that were there ran last year, so they had a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn't. We found out we've got room to add about 125 lbs to the car. Heavier is faster they say. Our ground clearance came out a little high, so when we add weight we'll need to do it under the car to keep the center of gravity low. A little bit of steering tweakage may need to take place before Saturday, but it's not on the critical list. Ethan says we've got to move the brake pedal forward, he feels like a pretzel in there. I'd like to have a speedometer on it by the weekend also, but that's looking doubtful.
After the inspection some of the race crews decided to go check out the race hill, so we tagged along. Of course once we got there, a little impromptu street racing was in order. We had a blast!
On the way back home, Ethan and I talked about all the other cars, which ones we thought were gonna be the fastest and some of the ideas they came up with. We also talked about stuff we needed to work on and how we're both excited for the real race.
