Coaster Car Update

Here's the body all primered and ready for paint. Ethan and I just finished slathering it. We're a little behind the schedule we've set for ourselves. We're supposed to go have the decals put on it tomorrow, but lack having it painted. That may be something the boys can do while I'm at work tonight. We also need to get a seat, seatbelt, and some kind of rollover protection together for the inspection on Saturday.

This has definitely been a time consuming project, but we've had a ton of fun with it. I realize it reall doesn't look like a Volkswagon as planned, mainly because there's no fenders. We decided to nix the fenders, partly because they were so fragile we were afraid we'd be replacing them all the time, and it just looks so mean without them. It really kind of looks like an old '32 Ford highboy. Not the look we were going for, but we'll take it.

After we got the body together the other day we took it our for a test run on a bigger slope than the one in front of our house. When Ethan stopped at the bottom, people came out from three of the surrounding houses to take a look at what in the world just went zooming by. One lady couldn't believe it didn't have some kind of motor in it. We stood around and talked for about ten minutes, answered their questions, and headed back home. We had a good laugh on the way back home about the commotion we had caused. Posted by Picasa
